When I am re-elected to the school board, I will continue

the vital work I have already started, fighting for:

Continuing to lobby for a new George Wythe H.S. and

a new Elementary School on a feasible site i.e. Ruffin Road 

 

Real Accountability

Ensuring an open and transparent budget process, improved school accreditation, 

and following through on our DREAMS4RPS strategic plan

Continuing to support policies that ensure a high quality education,

improved graduation rates, and increase funding for athletics, arts & humanities

Experience That Matters

  • Continue & enhance the work that I started during my 2009-2013 & 2017-2021 tenure. I have been part of an effective team working towards moving RPS forward; served as School Board Chair, Vice Chair, & Finance Committee Chairperson.

  • Built state of the art educational facilities and learning tools - Cardinal (Greene), Henry L. Marsh (George Mason), Broad Rock & Oak Grove/Bellemeade Elementary Schools, River City (Elkardt) & Martin Luther King Middle Schools, Huguenot High School​

  • Earned 100% Full Accreditation

  • Fiscal responsibility, reinstated internal auditor (2019) and increased with a functional audit plan  

  • Early Childhood Center opened & district-wide focused on Early Prevention 

  • Approved 2012 district–wide rezoning plan for elementary schools; Athletic Turnaround Initiative; supported Higher Achievement program at Boushall Middle School; Organized 2010 Back to School Supplies Give-Away held at George Wythe High School for RPS Students

  • Helped secure an additional $18M for our Operational Budget and $19M for Capital Improvement Project (CIP) building maintenance. (FY2019)

  • Continuing to improve Arts & Athletic Improvement in all areas

  • Securing competitive salaries for teachers

  • Supporting faculty and staff 

  • Continuing to improve graduation rates (Secondary Success Center)

  • Advocating to maintain our fiscal due diligence to maximize the use of our resources for the benefit of the most important stakeholders of all, OUR CHILDREN

  • Helping to identify the public’s expectations of the RPS School Board

  • Supporting, promoting, and sustaining initiatives that will improve RPS
